Almost died as my computer gets an Autumn cleaning

Almost died as my computer gets a Autumn cleaning

My computer was 99.5 percent filled and almost died, apparently needed a fast. Luckily my good friend who knows a lot about computers was able to fix it, otherwise it would have died and would have to have thrown it out. I sold all my records in Portland, OR and burned them to my laptop, so too much music on it, plus all the temp. internet files and so on. Today was a good day at work, made two vegan soups and named them September Sunday Soup after a girl who went by that name at the 2004 CA Rainbow Gathering and August Moon Soup, named after the act of cutting one’s hair after it has grown along, also because I have a poetic license to do so and it is the final days of August. Summer is almost gone.

Going without for the cause

Going without for the cause

I fasted for one day on just herbal tea and H20. All traditions fast. I want to fast the last Monday of the month and work up to maybe twice a month for a day at a time. I always wanted to fast since being in India where a good friend who fasted twice a week, on top of Seva and learning the mother tongue of Kerala. It went well lots of time to practice and practice I did beginning with asana, meditation, and chants. Cleaning up my space and sat mediation with my friend who also fasted the same day. We went up to the mountains together and took in nature. That night did some more meditation and chanting at Alandi ashram. Finishing up reading about the musical and spiritual journey of George Harrison in the book “Here comes the Sun” and made some calls about Library Science, a possible next venture along with the possibility of massage or Ayurveda. Well I dreamed of cooking a sun dried tomato vegan pizza i.e. I cook vegan pizzas at the award winning café on Fridays with a cashew cheese on top of old Smokey spelt wheat free dough, and broke the fast with peaches, the fruit not the singer this morning.

Elves, wolves, and Dr. Spock

Elves, wolves, and Dr. Spock

I went to a party this weekend that was more of a potluck with whole wheat spirulana cake, lasagna, and so forth. Also it was a kirtan, drum circle, and good vibes throughout i.e. not focusing just on booze and the like. Also it was a costume themed party, fairies and forest creatures, so for the occasion I dressed up in my clothes from India, complete with hand made yoga pants, three button traditional shirt, and a Kashmir silken scarf that I wrapped around my head. I took off the head wrap as it was too hot once I arrived at the party. Later that night a girl said that she liked my ears. She asked if I had cosmetic surgery to have them become pointed. She was being sincere and it was funny that she asked this, since I was born with ears that are slightly pointy. In fact in grade school I kept my hair long, because some people would kid I was an elf or Dr. Spock.

on Ganesh's stead

"with his stead a mouse, one who can gnaw through any barrier, there is no obstacle or earthly goal that can withstand Ganesha's intentions"

Last night I returned home from work after working a long 9.5 hour shift, making stuffed crust wheat free, cashew cheeze organic vegan follow your heart stuffed crusted pizzas to find a rodet i.e. mouse running along in the living room, roomates just got back from CA with luggage spread in living room and were at the RHCP show in Denver, so it startled me since I am not used to seeing rodents running around that often in Boulder, CO, the beautiful progressive college town that I have lived in for 3 different occasions, progressive and pristine, for in Bombay I was used to seeing rodents run in the street along with beggars and saints, and homeless dogs, but not in my home, but I will look to this mouse as Ganesh stead and hopefully we will get humane traps to catch this creature that breathes the same air I breathe and release him out into the world.

auspicious coincidence occurs on Janmashtami

On Janmashtami, the birth of Krishna, which was this past Wed. the 16th of August my mom received the package of books I sent from Kerela in S. India at Amritapuri 8 months ago. I was pretty bummed out that the package was lost, since it contained journals, Bhajan Books, and books on Amma that sold for a buck a book vs $12 to $15 in the states.
My roomates have been gone for the last few weeks, and one of my roomates received a package from Delhi the same day.
Janmashtami was great. I went to the temple in Denver with some devotee friends from Boulder. Prasadum, kirtan, chanting, dancing, classical Indian dance, theatre, and I was around a ton of Indians, most since Mumbai in April. Hari Bol!
